We’re sure we don’t need to emphasise to you the moral duty that you have, as someone responsible for given premises, to do everything possible to ensure the highest level of on-site fire safety. And, of course, you are also likely to have good financial reasons to adopt measures to help protect the premises themselves.

A new code of practice in relation to assessing the fire risk posed by external walls and cladding of multi-occupancy residential buildings has been set out by BSI.

There’s no question that in recent years, the devastating 2017 Grenfell Tower fire has further helped draw attention to the critical importance of fastidious fire safety legislation. The tragedy has seemingly served as a catalyst, for example, for major updates to PAS 79, which helps ensure that all of the necessary information in relation to both fire risk assessments and their findings are recorded.

The need to help ensure the highest standards of fire safety at any premises for which you are responsible should be obvious; you have financial, legal, and moral reasons to take this aspect of the management of your site seriously.
